The First Nations Education Council (FNEC) and BMO Bank of Montreal are pleased to announce the official opening of the 9th edition of the FNEC Inter-school Games. For the third year in a row, the Games are being held at Laval University's sports complex-Pavillon de l'éducation physique et des sports (PEPS) from May 11 to 15, 2016. Close to 550 youths, between the ages of 10 and 18, from 19 First Nations schools across Quebec. Read the Press Release

Traditional shaputuan inauguration at the Kiuna Institution

The unveiling and inauguration of Kiuna Institution's brand new shaputuan is taking place. This impressive bark dwelling, designed by Philippe Rock, an Elder from the community of Pessamit, was made possible through funding provided by the Ministère de l'Éducation, de l'Enseignement supérieur et de la Recherche (MEESR). The shaputuan was built according to traditional Innu techniques over an eight-week period starting with the harvest of the raw material, and ending with the application of a sealer to extend the lifetime of the structure for eight to ten years. details
