For the 2016-2017 fiscal year, Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC) has made a major change to the New Paths for Education program by integrating a Language and Culture component in Improving School Effectiveness (activity NP1M).

The program

For the 2016-2017 fiscal year, Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC) has made a major change to the New Paths for Education program by integrating a Language and Culture component in Improving School Effectiveness (activity NP1M). The objective of the Improving School Effectiveness activity is to make classroom instruction more effective through curriculum and language development, improvements to instructional methods, and the purchasing of information technology equipment and software.The Language and Culture component builds on curriculum development and consolidation to protect and revitalize First Nations languages and benefit future generations by supporting an increase in the number of speakers through educational programming and cultural activities.
