Connectivity cost reimbursement
Schools are eligible to have their Internet connectivity costs reimbursed. As in previous years, schools can submit their reimbursement claims by two deadlines: October 31, 2016, and March 31, 2017. Schools are required to complete the Connectivity Reimbursement Form and return it with copies of connectivity invoices and their own invoice to the FNEC.
The FNEC maintains two software licensing agreements to help schools acquire software that meets their needs. The FNEC regularly distributes updates on CD-ROMs to schools that have signed a General Agreement Form. The schools must also sign a Microsoft agreement so that FNEC license numbers correspond to the agreement.
Microsoft agreement (for schools)
The FNEC maintains an agreement with Microsoft, which provides all schools with free Microsoft Office and Windows upgrade licences. Schools are permitted to use the licences for computers located in the school and other learning environments that support the delivery of kindergarten to Secondary 5 (Grade 12) education services in their community. Schools are required to complete the Microsoft Agreement Form and return it to FNEC to participate in this program.
McAfee (antivirus software)
The FNEC has signed a regional licence contract with McAfee. Schools can install the McAfee suite for workstations and servers on all computers. Schools can also distribute the software to their students so that students can install the antivirus software on their home computers. No reports are required for this contract.
